Chapter 1

On the eve of our wedding, my fiancée gave her virginity to her first love.

I left the engagement ring behind and walked away.

Before leaving, I posted a comment on their social media.

"Hope you two reconcile soon. I'm stepping aside to make room."

She called me immediately.

"Ethan, I just didn't want any regrets in life. Must you be so old-fashioned?"

I replied impatiently.

"You're not my fiancée anymore. This has nothing to do with me."

Suddenly, she panicked.

I took off the engagement ring and called off the wedding unilaterally.

My fiancée had just given her virginity to her first love, Alexander Roland, at her bachelorette party.

When the news reached Isabella, she called me in a rage.

"Ethan Lowell! What are you pulling now? What am I supposed to do if the wedding is canceled? Do you want everyone to laugh at me?"

"Can you stop being so petty? I just didn't want to have any regrets in life."

"I'm about to marry you. What more do you want?"

Her tone was full of blame, as if all of this was my fault.

But she was the one in the wrong. I took a deep breath and clenched my fists tightly.

I thought she would try to stop me from calling off the wedding. Instead, her first words were to criticize me.

From the age of twenty to twenty-seven, I had always chased after her. But in her heart, I meant nothing.

The one she had always loved was Alexander Roland.

I tried hard to calm myself down.

"Isabella, we're done."

There was a noticeable pause on the other end of the line. Then she spoke with disdain.

"Fine, Ethan Lowell. I'll give you credit for having some backbone. You want to break up? I agree. Let's see who else would want you besides me."

"You're just a jinx. Don't flatter yourself into thinking you're something special."

My heart ached sharply, and my breathing became ragged.

Isabella's words were like a blunt knife, slowly slicing my heart to pieces.
