I married my sister’s ex-husband to save our family, only to be treated as her shadow. For three years, I endured his coldness and cruelty. But when my sister returned from the dead, I signed the divorce papers and walked away. Now I’m a celebrated artist, loved by a better man—while my ex-husband is begging for my return. Too late. Some mistakes can never be undone.
I married Gabriel Winston in my sister's place.
On our wedding night, he looked at me coldly.
"You can have the title of Mrs. Winston."
"But don't hope for anything more."
"Sophia is the only one in my heart."
For three years, I lived carefully.
I tried my best to fulfill every duty of Mrs. Winston.
Hoping Gabriel would glance my way just once.
Until today.
I received news of my sister's return.
Gabriel went to the airport personally to pick her up.
I finally woke up.
Some hearts can never be warmed.
While packing my bags.
I found the signed divorce papers.
I neatly signed my own name.
The housekeeper urged from outside the door.
"Madam, it's time to prepare dinner."
"The master will return to a cold meal if you don't."
I walked out with my suitcase.
"Tell Gabriel Winston."
"We're divorced."
-----
Rain poured down heavily.
I walked through the storm with an umbrella.
My suitcase wheels splashed through puddles.
The housekeeper chased me to the gate.
"Where are you going, Madam?"
"The master will be back soon."
"You can't just slack off like this."
Her voice dripped with sarcasm.
"If you hadn't schemed back then."
"The master would never have married you."
I stopped walking.
For the first time, I faced her hostility directly.
"Gabriel and I are already divorced."
"I never clung to him."
A mocking laugh came from behind.
"Don't act so noble."
"You'll come crawling back in a few days."
I ignored her.
And walked quickly toward the main gate.
Everyone in the villa.
Had looked down on me because of Gabriel's attitude.
I've had enough of these three years.
I took a taxi to the airport.
