About this book

I was dying of Wolf Spirit Decay, but my Alpha called me a liar. He chose Sophia over me—until the day I died. Then he heard the recording that revealed everything. Now he’s gone mad with regret, but it’s too late. Will my truth destroy them all? Or will I get the life I deserved in the next one?

Chapter 1

The healers delivered my death sentence.

My final breath would be my revenge against my ignorant Alpha and the family that had tortured me relentlessly.

As the words left my lips, the hall doors burst open violently.

Liam's furious roar echoed through the chamber. "Isabella! What in the world are you doing?"

I turned to face his burning dark eyes.

Sophia rushed in behind him, her face carefully arranged in concern.

"Of all days, you choose today to make a scene?" Liam stormed toward me in quick strides. "Sophia just earned her Lead Warrior position. The entire pack celebrates her achievement, and you pull this now?"

His hand struck without warning. A sharp slap cracked against my cheek.

The impact sent me stumbling backward, my face immediately swelling with heat.

It took me several heartbeats to remember what day this was. Sophia's celebration.

Liam had deliberately postponed a critical two-day border patrol just to honor her promotion to elite warrior.

Meanwhile, I, his destined mate, stood in the final stages of spirit decay.

My wolf spirit was fading fast.

My only offense had been reaching out to him, pleading for help.

Only to be accused of abusing our bond.

Tears threatened to blur my vision, but I refused to let them fall.

I opened my mouth to speak, but a violent coughing fit seized me.

Blood droplets sprayed across the white marble floor, blooming like crimson flowers.

I fought to steady my trembling form, my voice shaking as I grasped at one last hope. "Liam, I truly didn't..."

Liam's brow twitched momentarily, perhaps at the blood staining my lips, but he remained silent.

Sophia's delicate voice sliced through the tension at the perfect moment. "But, sister, the Alpha came all this way for you..."

"I told you both to ignore her. She's nothing but drama," my mother Charlotte's voice echoed through the mind-link. "She's pulled these attention-seeking stunts since childhood. Does she honestly think we'd believe such a pathetic act?"

"Isabella, would you truly harm yourself just to drag me here and ruin Sophia's celebration?" Liam closed the distance, grabbing my collar roughly.

Sophia rushed to pull him back. Her eyes filled with manufactured tears as she looked at me, her voice trembling dramatically.

"I'm so sorry, sister. I never should have accepted the promotion. This is all my fault! Please stop hurting yourself! The Alpha worries constantly about you. If you'll just show remorse, I swear I'll never accept another honor!"

Her words were poison-tipped daggers, each one painting me as the villain while twisting deeper into my heart.

Charlotte's tone instantly softened with affection. "Sweet girl, this isn't your fault. You're extraordinary, and you deserve every recognition."

Though I'd witnessed this mother-daughter performance countless times, each repetition felt like having my heart carved out with a rusted blade.

It had been so long since I'd experienced the maternal love that should have been mine.

Now, it all flowed toward Sophia.

But none of it mattered anymore. When you're dying, you learn to release many things.
