About this book

I walked out when my husband invited his ‘goddess’ best friend into our home. Now I’m free, successful, and dating a billionaire’s son. But when I heard how their story ended—with a car crash and two bodies—I wasn’t surprised. Karma always delivers.

Chapter 1

My husband insisted on celebrating our anniversary by inviting his entire circle of friends.

Including a female "bro" I had never met before.

She walked in and immediately settled onto Liam's lap.

She started a video call without hesitation.

"Mom, I made it! Your godson is right here with me."

Then she turned and pressed her cheek against his.

She nuzzled him playfully.

"Well, Liam, if you ever treat me badly, both our families will come after you!"

Crack!

The glass in my hand fell and shattered on the floor.

Everyone’s attention snapped toward me.

Olivia raised an eyebrow.

"Hey, it was just a joke. You’re not actually upset, are you?"

The private room went completely silent.

I instinctively looked at Liam.

He smiled and tapped her head gently.

His voice was warm. "Today is my anniversary with my wife. Try to behave."

She pouted and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Fine. Since this is also my welcome-home party, I’ll play nice."

A server entered to clean the broken glass and handed me a new cup.

Someone tried to lighten the mood.

"Don’t take it personally, Emma. Olivia has always been like this—she doesn’t mean anything by it."

I stayed quiet.

Olivia shot me a dismissive look.

"Are you really that sensitive?"

Then she released Liam and hopped off his lap.

"I guess I should stay away from you, Liam. Wouldn’t want your wife to have a meltdown later."

She shook her head and sighed dramatically, addressing the group.

"This is why I prefer hanging out with guys."

"Women are so exhausting. Always overreacting."

No one responded, and the atmosphere grew tense.

Someone finally spoke up cautiously.

"Olivia, it’s their anniversary. Maybe dial it back a little."

Olivia feigned surprise, covering her mouth.

"Oh my god, I almost forgot! I brought a gift!"

She pulled a velvet jewelry box from her purse.

She presented it to Liam like it was something precious.

"Ta-da!"

Inside were a pair of gleaming men’s cufflinks.

A few people murmured politely in admiration.

Liam smiled. "You just got back—I should be giving you a gift."

Hearing that, Olivia gave him a coy look.

She leaned over and began fastening the cufflinks onto his wrists.

As she moved, matching cufflinks on her own sleeves glittered under the light.

"Hmph, I picked these especially for you. You better wear them often."

Some guests were already stealing glances at me.

I took a deep breath, my nails digging half-moons into my palms.

Then I stood up.

Liam frowned. "Where are you going?"

I forced a smile. "To book a hotel room for you two."

"Otherwise, you might just get carried away right here."

The moment I finished, Olivia slammed the empty jewelry box onto the floor.

She cursed loudly. "What the hell is wrong with her?"

"I told you we should’ve just gone out with the guys."

"She ruined the whole vibe!"

Liam rushed after me, his voice urgent.

"Emma, Olivia doesn’t mean anything by it."

"They’re just cufflinks. She’s always been like this—don’t take it to heart."

"And what you said was completely inappropriate…"

I gave him a cold smile.
