About this book

After ten years of being trafficked, I came home—only to be sent to a abusive reality show by my own parents. They wanted me “fixed.” But when I jumped from the rooftop on live TV, my death exposed their lies. Now, let’s see who’s really broken.

Chapter 1

I was abducted for ten years. After returning home, I found that my parents had adopted a new child.

To prevent me from targeting the adopted boy, my parents sent me to a popular transformation reality show.

Every day, I had to fight with pigs for their food and compete for a place to sleep. Before going to bed, I was brainwashed by the instructors and forced to repeat hundreds of times how good my parents and younger brother were.

Once I made a mistake, I would be stripped naked, whipped countless times in front of the camera, and had to slap myself until the director was satisfied.

After the show was filmed, I finally became the good child and good elder brother in my parents' eyes.

However, on the day of the reality show's launch event, after I jumped off the top of the TV station building, my parents went crazy.

---

My knees hit the concrete hard in front of our house.

"I'm sorry, Dad. Mom."

I had practiced this line a thousand times.

Each word was carved into my bones.

"I know I was wrong. I swear I'll treat my brother better from now on."

"My brother's needs come first."

"He will always be the priority."

"My brother is more precious than my own life."

The director's voice cut through from behind the camera.

"Cut!"

The controversial transformation reality show had finally finished filming.

I remained kneeling on the spot.

My body was too stiff to move.

My parents beamed, shaking the director's hand.

"Thank you so much for teaching our Ethan to be so sensible!"

Director William Winston gave me a meaningful look.

"Ethan, remember to be filial to your parents."

"And take good care of your brother."

He reached out to help me up.

I flinched back violently.

My father's eyes widened instantly.

"What is wrong with you?!"

The director patted my shoulder with a smile.

"The child just can't bear to leave our crew."

He leaned close to my ear.

His voice dropped to a whisper.

"Remember every word we taught you."

A shudder ran through me.

I nodded vigorously.

The moment the production van drove away, my parents pulled me inside.

Noah stood in the living room.

His lips curled when he saw me.

As our parents turned, he flashed a brilliant smile.

"Brother! You're finally back!"

He rushed over and grabbed my hand.

"Let me show you your room!"

He dragged me toward the room before I could respond.

The door clicked shut.

His smile vanished instantly.

"Why didn't you die in that wretched place?"

I stared at him silently.

This was the same face he made years ago when police rescued me from that remote mountain village.

I was the biological son of this family.

Seeing my silence, Noah let out a cold laugh.

He suddenly raised his hand.

He slapped himself hard across the face.

Then he collapsed to the floor, wailing loudly.

"Dad! Mom! Brother hit me!"

My parents burst through the door.

My father saw the red mark on Noah's face.

He kicked me to the ground.

"Bullying your brother the moment you're back?!"

My mother held Noah, her eyes icy.

"Your brother missed you every day."

"Is this how you treat him?"
