Ethan, now drowning in regret, will stop at nothing to win her back—even if it means destroying his mistress and his own legacy. Yet Sophia is no longer the naive heiress he once controlled. From luxury penthouses to New York art galleries, she rebuilds her life piece by piece… while Ethan’s obsession spirals into self-destruction.

Chapter 1

In the Immigration Bureau lobby, Sophia Williams pushed a stack of documents through the service window. Her fingertips trembled slightly, but she pressed down firmly on the application form.

"Your materials have been received, ma'am," the clerk said, stamping the papers with practiced efficiency. "You'll be notified to collect your passport in fifteen business days."

As she turned to leave, hushed whispers followed her.

"Isn't that Mrs. Johnson?"

"Oh my god, does Mr. Johnson know about this?"

"Last time Mrs. Johnson just went to the spa, Mr. Johnson sent twenty bodyguards after her..."

A bitter smile tugged at Sophia’s lips. Everyone knew how much Ethan Johnson loved her.

Five years ago, he had rented an entire island for their fairytale wedding. Three years ago, when she lost blood in a car accident, he donated 800cc without hesitation. A year ago, when her phone died, he nearly turned the whole city upside down.

But who would have thought that the same man who cherished her like a treasure would be entangled with another woman in their marital bed—on their anniversary?

"Mrs. Johnson, your documents." The clerk’s voice snapped her back to reality.

Sophia took the papers and walked out without looking back. The sunlight stung her eyes.

The Riverside Villa remained as opulent as ever. The moment she pushed open the door, the sound of hushed moans drifted down from the second floor.

"Ethan... not so rough..."

Sophia’s nails dug into her palms. She crept upstairs and peered through the half-open door—Isabella Taylor was straddling Ethan’s lap.

"Sophia will be back soon..." Isabella whined.

Ethan idly traced her waist. "So what? She’s at her girls' gathering."

Standing in the shadows, Sophia felt ice seep into her veins. This was the man she loved—using her supposed outing as cover to cheat with another woman.

"Ethan, this necklace..." Isabella suddenly pointed to the vanity.

"Don’t touch that!" Ethan slapped her hand away. "It’s Sophia’s anniversary gift."

Isabella pouted. "You’re so good to her."

Ethan’s gaze softened. "She deserves the best."

Sophia couldn’t take it anymore. She turned and descended the stairs, deliberately making noise.

"Sophia?" Ethan rushed down, his clothes disheveled, his face still flushed. "You’re back so early?"

"The gathering was canceled." She fought back nausea, her eyes flickering to his wrinkled collar.

Ethan tensed. "Are you feeling sick? I’ll call the doctor—"

"No need." She sidestepped his touch. "I’m just tired. I’ll rest."
