Chapter 1

Midway through the college entrance exam, I did something unthinkable—I pulled a cheat sheet from my pocket and held it up for everyone to see.

The invigilator snatched my exam paper immediately, declaring my results invalid. But when they examined my cheat sheet, their faces went pale. It wasn't just answers for this test—it had perfect solutions for tomorrow's exams too.

Within minutes, the inspection team arrived, and I was escorted out by police. If convicted of cheating, I'd face three years in prison.

No one could make sense of it. Why would me—a top-ranked student, a surefire candidate for highest scorer—cheat? And why would I turn myself in?

But the real mystery was: How did I have answers for tests we hadn't even taken yet?

Only I knew the truth. I wasn't cheating to pass.

I was cheating to survive.

The exam hall was dead silent, the only sound the frantic scratching of pens. I stared at my blank answer sheet, took a deep breath, and then—

"Sir!" I announced loudly, holding up the thick stack of papers. "I have a cheat sheet in my pocket!"

Every head snapped toward me. A few students gasped; someone's pen clattered to the floor.

The invigilator stormed over, yanking the papers from my hand. "Jessica," he hissed, "you've committed a serious violation. Your exam is terminated." His voice boomed across the room, but I didn't flinch.

A collective breath caught in the crowd. "Is she insane?" someone whispered. A girl near the front gaped. "Wait—that's Jessica Stockholm. The girl who aces every mock exam!"

A guy in the back barked out, "A valedictorian cheating? She's throwing her life away!"

The invigilator slammed his fist on a desk. "Silence! One more word, and you'll be disqualified too!"

The room froze. Everyone ducked back to their papers—except my classmates, who stared at me like I'd lost my mind.

Then the second invigilator stiffened. "Wait—look at this." He waved the other over, voice dropping to a whisper. "This isn't just English answers. It's math and science—but those exams aren't until tomorrow!"
