I found Ruslan Wyatt's secret, and it wasn't pretty. He had cameras hidden all over our home. But instead of falling apart, I decided to play him at his own game.
I found Ruslan Wyatt's secret, and it wasn't pretty. He had cameras hidden all over our home.
But instead of falling apart, I decided to play him at his own game.
I stuck to my usual routine, pretended to leave the house, but snuck back in and hid in the wardrobe.
From my hiding spot, I watched it all unfold: Ruslan and his mistress, tangled in a heated embrace, laughing like I wasn't even there.
His voice was deep, low, as he whispered, "Let's hurry up. Aurelle usually takes a thirty-minute walk before she gets back."
The mistress snickered, her tone dripping with mockery. "A paralyzed cripple? She won't be back for at least three hours."
Ruslan shot her a warning look. "Aurelle is tough. She's the one I love. Disrespect her again, and we're done."
What he didn't know? My paralysis was a lie. I could walk. I could leave whenever I wanted.
I stepped out of the wardrobe, wiping away the tears that had slipped out. Without hesitating, I grabbed my phone.
"I'll take the offer abroad."
Exactly thirty minutes passed, not a second more, not a second less.
Just as Thea Hunter was about to leave, Ruslan stopped her.
Her face lit up with hope, but his response hit her like a cold splash of water. "Take that with you," he said, pointing to some lacey underwear stuck in the sofa cushions. "Don't let Aurelle find out."
Thea's smile vanished, her eyes narrowing. "So, I'm just your plaything? What about the baby I'm carrying? What's gonna happen to them?"
The word "baby" froze Ruslan in his tracks. His eyes widened, disbelief flooding his face before he smiled like an idiot.
"You're pregnant?" he stammered, hand trembling as he placed it over her stomach.
"Three years of trying," Thea purred, savoring his reaction. "And finally, a result."
Three years. Those words stabbed straight to my heart. It had been three long years since I lost the ability to walk.
Ruslan, grinning like a fool, pulled Thea into a hug. "Aurelle's paralyzed," he murmured. "I couldn't touch her. But you… you're what I need."
"Don't worry," Thea said smugly. "I'll make sure the baby gets everything, your secret's safe with me."
I felt a cold void fill the room as his words sank in. Not only was he betraying me, he was making me the godmother of his mistress's child.
